Stoves

We supply and install woodburning and multi-fuel (wood and coal) burning stoves. Stoves can be a very efficient and cost effective way of heating your home as well as providing a cosy atmosphere in your living room. Wood stoves also have the advantage of being environmentally friendly as wood is a green, sustainable source of fuel which when burnt only releases the carbon that was absorbed from the atmosphere by the tree as it grew.

Choosing a stove

There are many different things to take into consideration when choosing your wood stove including the type of fuel you wish to burn, the space you have to fit the stove in and your heating requirements. We will come out to your home to carry out a free, no-obligation survey where we will go through all your needs and requirements and recommend the stove that is best suited for you.

Chimney and Flue lining

An open fire looses around 80% of it's heat up the chimney, a stove looses less then 20%. This means that the smoke from a stove is unlikely to be able to bring a masonry chimney up to temperature. The higher the temperature of the flue the faster the gasses are drawn up it, this in turn creates a draft through the fire providing it with the oxygen it needs to burn properly. If the chimney is not warm enough then the smoke will condense inside the chimney creating excess soot and tar which can be the cause of chimney fires. A cold chimney requires more heat from the stove which in turn reduces the heat that goes into your home.

A flue liner can be fitted which will substantially decrease the volume of the chimney meaning that higher temperatures can be maintained, it also keeps all the ashes and soot contained within the chimney liner making it easier to sweep and removes the possibility of leakage of smoke (and therefore Carbon Monoxide) into your home. A flue liner also improves warm up time and energy efficiency of the stove.
