The team operates from their base at The Greenshop in Bisley. This award-winning building is a fine example of how a new building can be built with modern eco technology, yet still blend within a rural landscape. The design and the building are both excellent examples of using sustainable construction principles and methods. Solar panels on the roof and walls provide 38.5 MegaWatt Hours of Electricity per annum, and 10.8 MegaWatt hours of heat to heat the building and provide hot water for the staff showers! A Rainharvesting system provides over 90% of the water used and the rainwater is used for flushing the WCs, washing cars and other process uses. Further heating is provided by a wood-burning boiler burning waste wood, and the green and sedum roofs contribute to local flood alleviation. These also contribute to biodiversity on site.

The Green Shop started to fit solar systems back in 1994, driven by increasing concerns about energy costs and sustainability. By 2004, demand had grown so much that the separate company, Greenshop Solar Ltd, was formed. This gave the team a clearer focus, and allowed them to expand their range of products, whilst holding true to their principles of excellence.

The company employs its own installers, and offers a wide range of products and services. These include: Solar PV, Solar Thermal, Thermal Stores and battery storage. Stand alone PV systems and backup electricity supply systems are becoming more popular with rising energy costs and energy insecurity issues. Battery storage systems from Tesla, SolarEdge, MyEnergi, SunPower and BYD now provide the ability to store daytime generated energy for night-time use.
